Size Guide
Drafted on Indian measurements. Measure once, properly, and the rest follows.
How to measure
Measure over your underwear, not over clothes, and keep the tape level and snug without pulling it in.
- Shoulder — across the back, from the bone at the tip of one shoulder to the other. Take this one first. On anything with a set-in sleeve it decides the fit before any other measurement gets a say.
- Bust — around the fullest part, tape level across the back.
- Waist — the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the navel.
- Hip — the fullest part, roughly 8 in / 20 cm below the waist.
- Inseam — from the crotch seam to where you want the hem to fall, in the shoes you will wear.
We work in inches, the way your tailor does, and give the same chart in centimetres below. If you can, have someone else measure you — self-measuring reliably adds an inch at the bust.
Size chart
Measurements are of the body, not of the garment. The India column is the numeric size you already know from your tailor and from most Indian labels — it is your bust measurement in inches.

How this chart is drafted
It is drafted on Indian measurements rather than converted from an imported one. In practice that means two things, and both of them are the reason an imported size in your usual letter has probably fitted you badly before.
The waist sits about six inches under the bust rather than the seven or eight a Western block assumes, so a piece that fits you at the bust does not stand away at the waist. And the hip runs about four inches over the bust, because a fuller hip relative to the shoulder and bust is the most common proportion we cut for — which is why our trousers and skirts are graded up faster than our tops.
So a 36 here is not a UK 36 or a US 6. Go by your measurements, not by the size you take in a foreign label.
Height and length
Lengths — hems, sleeves, rises — are cut for a frame of about 5'2" to 5'5" (157–165 cm), which is where most of the women we cut for sit. The chart above sizes your width; this is the part it cannot tell you.
If you are above 5'6", expect trousers and sleeves to read shorter on you than in the photographs. Tell us at checkout and we will add length wherever the piece has it to give.
If you are under 5'2", most full-length trousers and our longer skirts will want shortening. That is expected rather than a fault, and it is a quick alteration — leave the hem to a tailor once the rest of the fit is right.
If you are between sizes
Fit the largest of your three measurements and have the rest taken in. Bringing a waist in is ordinary work for any tailor; letting a hip out is not, and on a finished seam it often cannot be done at all.
Size up for anything structured — blazers, waistcoats, tailored trousers. A shoulder that is cut too narrow cannot be let out.
Size down for anything fluid or bias-cut, where extra fabric reads as slouch rather than as ease.
How our pieces are cut
Our tailoring is cut close through the shoulder and waist with room through the hip. Our knits and sheers are cut fluid and sit softly on the body.
Each product page notes the height of the model and the size she is wearing, which is often more useful than a chart.
Made-to-measure
Where a piece offers made-to-measure, you can give us your own measurements at checkout instead of choosing a size. Send the shoulder along with the rest — it is the one we most often have to write back for.
These pieces are cut for you and cannot be returned or exchanged, so if you are unsure about a measurement, ask us before ordering rather than after. We would much rather have the conversation first.
